Eustis Parks & Recreation Scores Big with NFL Flag Football Season

The City of Eustis Parks & Recreation Department is celebrating the success of its ongoing NFL Flag Football youth season, which has rapidly grown into a cornerstone of the city’s athletic programs. Since its launch in 2023, the league has more than doubled in size, growing from 30 participants in its first season to approximately 65 young athletes currently engaged in the program.
Partnering with NFL FLAG, the official flag football league of the NFL, Eustis Parks & Recreation has provided boys and girls of all skill levels with an exciting, fast-paced, and inclusive way to experience the game. Emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill development in a non-contact environment, the program continues to make a significant impact on the community.
“The response has been incredible,” said Sam Brinson, Eustis Parks & Recreation Director. “We are seeing kids grow in confidence, develop leadership skills, and, most importantly, have a blast playing the game they love. The NFL FLAG program is making a real impact on our community, and we are thrilled to be a part of it.”
Lorenzo Hayward, who oversees all athletic programs for the City of Eustis, highlighted the program’s rapid expansion and ongoing success. “We launched our flag football program in 2023, and now in our third season, participation has more than doubled. We are excited to continue making a positive impact and remain committed to growing Eustis Athletics for the community.”
The season has brought families together, creating an electric atmosphere at local parks as young athletes showcase their talent and teamwork. With strong community engagement, dedicated volunteer coaches, and enthusiastic players, the program has solidified itself as a vital part of Eustis' youth sports offerings.
