K9 Officer Retires

K9 Officer Mya of the Eustis Police Department was honored at the March 7 City Commission meeting upon her retirement. Mya began her career on May 9, 2019 with Officer Hackett, and continued with Senior Officer Victor Cortes after August 5, 2020. During her tenure, she was deployed 418 times, locating 19.5 pounds of illegal narcotics, 34 firearms, and approximately $15,000 in U.S. Currency. She is responsible for 410 Felony and 205 Misdemeanor charges. She will live with Officer Cortes in her golden years.
