Eustis Fire Chief Mike Swanson accepted an award Thursday, March 7, 2024 from the Rotary Club of Lake County Golden Triangle for the most pounds donated to Lake Cares Food Pantry in the 4th Annual Tri-City Fire Department Food Drive Challenge in January. Eustis has won the award for four years in a row. This year, the EFD donated more than 16,700 pounds of food, besting the fire departments of Mt. Dora and Tavares. According to Gonzalez, there is a greater need now more than ever at the food pantry, as Lake Cares is seeing many more clients today as a result of inflation and economic hardship.
