At the Commission Meeting held on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, the Commission elected Emily Lee to serve as Mayor and Gary Ashcraft to serve as Vice Mayor for the City of Eustis. Lee and Ashcraft will serve their respective roles until elections are held again in January of next year.
For the past twenty years, Emily Lee served the Lake County community by developing and coordinating the implementation of programs to improve the lives of children and families. Lee takes great joy and satisfaction from being involved in the community. Her three sons and their families are her greatest source of joy and pride.
“I know that we will work together as a team, I see it happening right here,” said Mayor Lee. “If we commit as a team, to work together, we will get this city to were it needs to be for the future.”
Gary Ashcraft has proudly called Eustis home since 2014, where he resides with his daughter and wife. Ashcraft has dedicated himself to serving the city and its residents. He actively supports community clean-up projects, education, youth sports, and local theatre, believing that civic involvement strengthens both quality of life and future opportunity for residents.
The City of Eustis has a council-manager form of government. The Commission consists of five Commission seats. Commissioners are elected for four-year terms, with elections held in even-numbered years. Elections are non-partisan. Elections for Seats 3, 4, and 5 are held in presidential election years. Commission terms begin in January of the year following the election. The Mayor and Vice Mayor are elected at the first regular City Commission meeting in January each year.
