The City of Eustis Parks and Recreation Department is taking a bold step in community safety with the installation of state-of-the-art lightning detection systems at three popular park locations. Residents and visitors at Carver Park, the Aquatic Center and the Service Center can now enjoy outdoor activities with an added layer of protection against severe weather.
With Florida ranking as the lightning capital of the United States, the city recognizes the importance of proactive safety measures. These new detectors will provide early warnings to parkgoers, coaches, athletes, and families, ensuring they have time to seek shelter when storms approach.
How It Works:
"This initiative is a game-changer for park safety in our community," said Sam Brinson, Director of Eustis Parks and Recreation. "We want families to enjoy our parks while having peace of mind knowing they will be alerted when dangerous weather is nearby."
The installation of these detectors aligns with Eustis’ ongoing commitment to public safety and outdoor enjoyment. Whether splashing at the Aquatic Center, enjoying a game at Carver Park, these new systems ensure a safer experience for all.
Residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the alarm signals and always heed warnings to protect themselves and others. By staying informed and alert, the Eustis community can continue to enjoy the city’s parks while minimizing risk during Florida’s unpredictable storm seasons.
