The City of Eustis unveiled a new Veterans Memorial at Greenwood Cemetery on Friday, May 22.

Community members gathered at 9 a.m. to recognize and honor the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The ceremony included a presentation of colors by the Eustis High School AFJROTC, a live performance of the national anthem, a memorial dedication, wreath-laying ceremony and remarks from community leaders.

“This memorial stands as a lasting tribute to those who have served,” Eustis Mayor Emily Lee said. “It is a place where families, friends and the community can gather to reflect, share stories and express gratitude for the sacrifices made to protect our freedoms.”

The monument’s branch flags, service medallions and restored World War II canon remind us of the dedication and sacrifice of individuals who have protected our country.

As Memorial Day approaches, the City of Eustis extends its gratitude to veterans, active-duty military personnel and their families for their service and sacrifice.
