The Eustis City Commission is now accepting applications for those interested in being appointed as Interim Commissioner to fill the seat which was recently vacated due to the resignation of a former Commissioner.
The seat is one of three for which candidates have already qualified for the November 2024 election. The Interim Commissioner will serve on the City Commission from September 2024 until January of 2025, when all newly elected officials are sworn in.
The application period is from 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19 to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2024.
The applications will be available at the Eustis City Clerk’s office in City Hall, 10 North Grove Street. The applicant’s voter registration card and a Florida photo ID, such as a driver’s license, must be submitted with the application, and all applicants must have resided in the City of Eustis for at least one year.
All applicants who pass a background check will be asked to attend a special meeting of the City Commission at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 11, 2024 to be interviewed by Commissioners. Applicants are encouraged to attend in person. However, there will be a call-in option provided. The appointment will be made at that meeting and the newly appointed Commissioner will participate in the regularly scheduled City Commission meeting on Sept. 19, 2024.
For additional information, contact the Eustis City Clerk’s office at (352) 483-5441.
