Emergency Operations Hurricane Heading Towards State of Florida

1. ACTIVIATION STATUS: CLOSED  


The Eustis Emergency Operations Center is activated upon the declaration of emergency by the Eustis City Commission. This action follows the State and County's declaration.

During this period, the City Manager is given control by the City Commission for a limited period of time as stated in the declaration of emergency. City employees and equipment are strategically placed in key locations in the city to protect the lives and property of the citizens.

Lake County Emergency Management is the agency responsible for opening public shelters throughout the county. Residents may call the following number to determine the existence and location of emergency shelters and to obtain other storm, safety, and weather information.

Downed Powerlines – Call 911 if an Emergency.

List of Lake County Emergency Shelters
Storm emergencies throughout Lake County may be reported to the Lake County Sheriff's office at (352) 343-2101.

In the event of a hurricane or severe storm events, residents of the City of Eustis may call the 24-hour public safety dispatch number to report public safety damages (downed trees, electrical wires, etc.) and to receive information regarding the opening of county-operated emergency shelters within the city.

FEMA Assistance 

Lake County Added to Amended Federal Disaster Declaration (for Hurricane Ian). 
The Federal Disaster Declaration has been amended to include Lake County, opening eligibility for FEMA assistance after Hurricane Ian. Residents and households in Lake County can apply for FEMA Individual Assistance, which may include temporary housing assistance, essential

home repairs, and other uninsured disaster-related needs. 

Impacted residents can apply for disaster assistance by:
▪️ Using the FEMA mobile app
▪️ Calling 800-621-3362 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Other resources available for residents and businesses include:
• Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) and the State Emergency Response Team (SERT) can activate the Business Damage Assessment Survey in response to the storm. Businesses impacted by the storm are encouraged to fill out this survey at www.FloridaDisaster.biz.
• The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) included Lake County in the disaster declaration for Hurricane Ian. Those interested in the program can learn more about SBA Disaster Loans by going to www.sba.gov.
Lake County staff members have been working hard to assess the extent of aid needed across the community. Residents and businesses are highly encouraged to report damage from the storm to the Lake County Property Appraiser’s office by calling 352-253-2150.
