Senior Citizen Exemption


The Lake County Board of County Commissioners has approved a $25,000 low-income senior citizen exemption for the assessment year 2004. This exemption applies to the county millage rate and is available to all Lake County residents (including those homeowners in the City of Eustis) who presently qualify for the existing homestead exemption and who meet all of the eligibility requirements listed below:

  • You must meet all of the requirements for the regular $25,000 homestead exemption; and
  • You must be 65 years of age (or older) as of January 1, 2004; and
  • The total adjusted gross income for the year 2003 for all persons living in your household on January 1, 2004, cannot exceed $21,600; and
  • You must apply in person for this exemption (and bring documentation verifying the above criteria with you) no later than 5:00 p.m., on March 1, 2004, at one of the offices of the Lake County Property Appraiser.

The offices of the Lake County Property Appraiser, their locations, and their normal working hours (Monday - Friday, except holidays) are:
