EUSTIS, Fla. (Sept. 9, 2020) – The Eustis Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) has purchased the former Florida Hospital Waterman site in Downtown Eustis. The CRA intends to make the three-block site available for redevelopment through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
Florida Hospital Waterman occupied the subject parcels and other nearby properties until 2003 when the hospital relocated to its new site on US 441. The site, which is featured prominently in both the 2008 City of Eustis Downtown Plan and the 2016 CRA Redevelopment Plan as a catalyst redevelopment site, currently includes two undeveloped blocks and one block of paved surface parking. The City’s planning framework anticipates multi-story development with a mix of uses including residential, commercial, and hotel.
“The purchase allows the City and the CRA to encourage and guide growth, development, and investment in the heart of our City,” said Michael Holland, Mayor of Eustis and Chairman of the CRA Board. “This exciting opportunity will bring new residents, commerce, and vitality to Downtown Eustis.”
The RFP process will make the property available for sale. Interested parties will submit proposals outlining potential redevelopment projects. Those proposals should include a project description, financials, timelines, and the experience of the development team. The City and the CRA will review proposals and select projects that maximize benefit and positive activity in Downtown Eustis.
