EUSTIS, Fla. (Nov. 16, 2018) – On Friday, November 23, 2018 the City of Eustis will host the 31st Annual Light-Up Eustis Celebration in historic downtown from 5 – 9 p.m. with a spectacular light-up ceremony beginning at 6:00 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will include a 75 foot snow slide, live music, entertainment, food trucks, and vendors. Along with a special visit by Santa, Mrs. Claus, Dancer the reindeer and its baby Donnie!
“We love the excitement and atmosphere in downtown as we turn on the lights and greet Santa as he arrives. Our annual tradition brings the community together in a fun and festive spirit,” said Mayor Robert Morin.
The event will kick-off at 5:00 p.m. with Win1 Ministries’ Praise Team taking the stage, followed by the Bay Street Player’s Young People’s Theatre at 5:30 p.m. Then at 6:00 p.m. the public is invited to join Mayor Morin, members of City Commission, and winners from the Miss Eustis Pageant in a countdown ceremony to watch approximately 400,000 LED holiday lights come to life across all of Downtown Eustis.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will sleigh in from the North Pole by fire truck. Children are invited to take a free photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus to decorate a personalized keepsake frame with representatives from the Lake Eustis Museum of Art. Then have a chance to slide down on the free 75’ snow hill! Santa’s arrival will be followed by holiday music by the Community of One Choir, Grande Island Baptist Church, and The Master’s Praise, Downtown Center Stage.
Ferran Park this year will feature new light displays and a 40’ x 100’ “Eustis on Ice” skating rink that has real ice! Admission to the ice rink is $10 per skater and includes skate rental or get a skate pass for $90 for ten admissions and ten beverages.
Help put a smile on a child's face this holiday season by donating any new, unwrapped toy(s) by visiting the Eustis Police Department's tent during Light-up Eustis. Toys for Tots will then distribute the toys as gifts to children who are less fortunate in our local community.
