PALMETTO PLAZA PHASE II PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL MEETING
EUSTIS, Fla. (July 17, 2018) – The City of Eustis is welcoming residents to attend an informal meeting for Palmetto Plaza Phase II on Tuesday, July 24 at 5:30 p.m. located at the intersection of Palmetto/Kensington/McDonald. At this meeting residents will learn more about the second phase of the plaza, the impact on the neighborhood, and will see the construction plans.
In 2009, the City of Eustis Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) action plan identified an opportunity for a community plaza at the intersection of Palmetto/Kensington/McDonald. This plaza is intended to establish a “true nexus point for the community” while stimulating business growth.
The City of Eustis developed and completed the first phase of the Palmetto Plaza site via a Build-a-thon project. Neighborhood and community partners, including AmeriCorps and Lake-Sumter Habitat for Humanity participated in the construction. Phase I is completed and includes five (5) market pavilions, concrete pads, walkways and a community lawn area. The City received a grant from the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for Phase II that will include restrooms, stage, and decorative pavement areas.
