Water Conservation & Restrictions

Twice a week water returns to Eustis and surrounding area.  The St. John’s River Water Management District has announced the twice a week schedule with the following limitations:

• Odd number addresses – Wednesday and Saturday

• Even number addresses – Thursday and Sunday

•  Never water between 10:00 am and 4:00pm

•  Irrigation is limited to no more than one inch of water per zone

• Irrigation is limited to no more than one hour of watering per zone

Exceptions to the above restrictions include:

• Use of micro-spray, jet, drip of bubbler irrigation system allowed anytime.

• Irrigation of new landscape is allowed at any time of day on any day for the first 30 days and every other day for the second 30 days.  Irrigation is limited to the minimum amount necessary to establish the new landscape.

• Watering in of chemical, including insecticides, pesticides, fertilizers, fungicides and herbicides when required by law, the manufacturer or best practice is allowed within 24 hours of application.  Watering may not exceed ¼ inch per application.  Best to combine with normal watering schedule.

• Irrigation systems may be operated anytime for maintenance and repair purposes not to exceed 20 minutes per zone.

• Irrigation using a hand-held hose equipped with a spray nozzle is allowed anytime.

Water Conservation and the Water Restriction Rules by St. Johns River Water Management District applies to all areas of Lake County and must be followed by all residents of the County.

Use of water by automatic and manual systems for landscape irrigation is prohibited between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. seven days a week, regardless of water source.  Odd numbered addresses may water Wednesday and Saturday only.  Even numbered addresses or common areas may water Thursday and Sunday only.

Strict penalty will be enforced for violation of the water restriction rule per City of Eustis Ordinance #09-27 .  For customers who live outside the Eustis municipal boundaries, the Lake County Landscape Irrigation Ordinance 2009-17 is provided for guidance.
