Mayor Hale has been in the real estate profession for over 34 years and has been a Realtor for the past 30 years. She owns and operates Jonnie C. Hale, Realtor Firm, in Eustis. Her education includes courses in business and real estate from Miami-Dade Community College, Seminole Community College, and Lake-Sumter Community College.  She is a certified Residential Specialist, a Real Estate Brokerage Manager, and a graduate of the Realtor's Institute and the Realtor's National Marketing Institute.

Mayor Hale began her first term on the Commission in January 1997, and was unopposed in her 2000 bid for reelection. She is on the Public Arts and Music Board and also on the Board of Directors of the Lake Eustis Museum of Art.  Mayor Hale has been active for many years in local and state real estate committees in the areas of finance, professional standards, education, bylaws, civic affairs, policy, and governmental affairs.  She was honored as "Realtor of the Year" in 1980 and "Designated Broker of the Year" in 1996 by the Greater Lake County Association of Realtors.

Since becoming an elected official, Mayor Hale has completed the Institute for Elected Municipal Officials, the Advanced Institute for Elected Municipal Officials, the Professional Development Workshop for Women in Government, and the Florida Planning and Zoning Association Workshop.  Mayor Hale believes the more training and education she completes in government, the more service she can provide to the City of Eustis and its residents.

The Lake County Board of County Commissioners has appointed Mayor Hale as a member of the Lake County Tourists Development Council.  In this capacity, she oversees the tourists development dollars in Lake County.

In her spare time, Mayor Hale enjoys her grandson Michael, her friends, dogs, birds, fishing, traveling, gardening, walking, and enjoying nature.
