Commissioner Ferree was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, attended public schools and received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State University. He served as a pilot in the United States Navy prior to his airline career.

“I’m a firm believer in the idea of thinking globally and acting locally. The world is starting the process of an extraordinary technology transition because of the real limits in the supply of energy we depend on and the environmental impact of our current habits of energy use. Wise and forward looking decisions on our part will prove this transition to be a wonderful opportunity to make our home truly ‘The City of Bright Tomorrows’.”
