Established in 1883, The Eustis Fire Department is widely renown as the most professional fire department in Lake County. With a staff of 21 full time professional Firefighters, 2 full time Fire Inspectors, 1 Fire Chief, 1 Fire Captain, 1 Staff Assistant, and 1 Volunteer Firefighter, the department serves a 10+ square mile area, with a population of almost 20,000. Based upon the average response time, equipment, dispatching services, water flow, service area, and the professional training of department personnel, the city's current ISO rating is a "3".

Fire FleetUnder the direction of Fire Chief Roy Tremain, the department provides administrative, inspection, rescue, and suppression services to our community. Additionally, the department provides vehicle extrication services. Typically, the Eustis Fire Department responds to over 2,800 calls per year..

The department boasts an impressive fleet of equipment, including one (1) 2002 Pierce 55 foot Dash Sky Boom; one (1) 2005 Pierce Pumper 1500 gpm; one (1) 85-foot Pierce Tower, one (1) Pierce Quantum Pumper, one (1) 2004 F-450 Rescue Truck, one (1) 2006 F-250 Rescue Truck, one (1) command/air truck, and two (2) rescue boats (one is 19' for operation in the larger lakes, and one is 12' for operation in the many small lakes within the city boundaries).

  History of the Eustis Fire Department!

In accordance with the terms of an interlocal agreement with the City of Mount Dora, the department provides automatic response on all automatic alarms and structure fires within this neighboring city; a separate interlocal agreement with Lake County also provides for fire response and assistance within a defined service district outside the city limits. Through mutual aid agreements, the department stands ready to assist the City of Umatilla and the State of Florida, upon request.

Special programs provided by the department include a smoke detector program to provide smoke detectors to those who do not have one,  Fire Department tours, fire safety demonstrations, and informative presentations provided to elementary schools, various youth organizations, churches, and local civic organizations.

The department has an Inspection Division to ensure safety for the businesses in the city. The Florida Fire Prevention Code mandates that all occupancies are to be inspected on an annual basis.
