The
City of Eustis Wastewater Department is made up of 5 inter-related
programs:
Collections:
Collections is the program devoted to collecting and pumping the
wastewater to the Treatment plant. It consists of 42
pumping stations, which are at various locations around the city.
Treatment:
The Treatment program is next. It is
made up of the tanks, pumps, blowers and other equipment at the plant sites. There are now
two (2) plant sites, the one at 801 Bates Avenue and the new site at Cardinal Lane
which is off of State Rt. 44 East of the city. The Bates Ave. site has a capacity of
2.4 million gallons a day. The new plant has a capacity of 150,000 gallons a day.
Disposal:
Following the Treatment program are the
Solids Disposal and Liquid Disposal programs.
The solids are
hauled to Shelly's Environmental Services for further treatment and
disposal.
The liquid is disinfected with
chlorine then sent to ponds to be used to irrigate the city cemetery and the athletic
fields at Carver Park. Some is sold to Sorrento Springs and Heathrow to irrigate
their golf courses.
Labwork:
The last program is the Laboratory. The
lab does most of the testing and reporting required
by D.E.P, St Johns Water Management
District and other regulatory agencies who have
jurisdiction over the Wastewater
Department.
